If you’re looking for courses that feature closed captions, this article outlines how you can locate them, and see which type of closed captions they include. Most closed captions are available in the course's spoken language, but some courses also offer captions in multiple languages.
Types of Closed Captions
To help make course content more accessible to students around the world, Udemy creates auto-generated, English captions for videos lectures that are instructed in English. The auto-generated captions are created using speech recognition technology. If a course has auto-generated captions available, then “auto-generated” will appear beside the closed captions icon.
Please note: over the coming months Udemy will also be adding auto-generated captions in Spanish and Portuguese for courses instructed in these respective languages.
We're always working to improve the quality of captions on Udemy. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the captions, please contact our support team.
If the instructor has uploaded their own closed captions to their course, however, then these captions will only feature the “CC” icon and the language of the closed captions that have been added.
