Once you've begun a course, you will be automatically returned to where you left off in the course player, next time you access it.

How to navigate through the course curriculum

All the published lectures and curriculum items of a course appear on the right-hand side of the course player when you're watching the course in the default view. You can quickly scroll through the course curriculum by moving your cursor over it, and begin a lecture or course item (quiz, practice test, etc.) by clicking on it.

Downloadable resources that have been included in lectures can also be accessed in the course curriculum as well. For more information on how to download a supplemental resource click here.

Accessing the course player settings

The course player includes various features and settings you can use to enhance your educational experience. These can be accessed by clicking the Settings (gear) icon at the bottom-right (see below for additional information).

How to adjust the video quality

Udemy automatically optimizes video resolution based on your internet connection speed. The video quality can be adjusted at any time by clicking on the Settings icon and selecting a different resolution.

If you're having difficulty viewing text on lectures where the instructor is sharing their screen, try adjusting the video quality.

For steps on how to adjust the video quality while watching courses on Udemy's mobile app, please click here.

How to turn Autoplay on / off

Udemy’s course player has an autoplay feature so that the next lecture will play automatically for you. Autoplay is enabled as the default setting. If you prefer to manually start the next lecture, however, click the Settings icon and then Autoplay to switch the feature off

If, moving forward you decide you would like to turn the autoplay feature back on, please follow the steps outlined above (except toggle Autoplay back on).

How to change the video speed

You have the option to play your lectures at different speeds (.5x, 1x, 1.25x, 1.5x or 2x).

To change the speed of a particular lecture video, click the video speed icon at the bottom-left of the course player and select the speed you wish.
