What is Shopping Cart?
Shopping cart is a way for students to purchase multiple courses on Udemy and enter payment details only once. This makes it easier and faster for students to purchase more than 1 course!
What does this mean for me?
Shopping cart provides a fast, easy, and organized way for students to purchase more than 1 course, as opposed to buying a course individually. Reducing the barrier to purchase results in an improved, more streamlined student experience.
I’m an instructor and a student. As a student, I’ve seen shopping cart already. What data can you share about the test that you’ve been running?
During our test phase, shopping cart has been used on thousands of Udemy transactions. Our data team has been tracking this carefully. Students who want to purchase multiple courses from Udemy are able to do so faster and more easily.
Do students have to use the shopping cart to purchase courses?
Nope. If you want to purchase just one course, click Take this course and enter your payment information. Alternatively, you can click Add to Cart to check out with a single course in the cart.
If a student comes in through my coupon, and Udemy is also running a promotion, which coupon code is applied during checkout?
The coupon code that results in the better price for students is applied. If the student lands on a course via an instructor coupon, and a sitewide coupon that results in a lower price for the student is applied within 24 hours of the student arriving to the course via the instructor coupon, the instructor will get 97% of the sale price.
Please note that currently, if a student purchases a course and then finds a coupon for the same course at a lower price and writes in to us, our Support team will issue a partial refund to make up the difference.
Can I view if my course has been Saved for Later or Wishlisted?
Currently, we do not have this functionality enabled for instructors.
Will there be any change to my revenue report?
There will be no change to your revenue report. If a student purchases your course with other courses that are not yours via shopping cart, only your course, with any applicable coupon, will appear on your revenue report.
Students are reporting that they are can’t use my coupon at checkout. Why would this happen?
There are 2 main reasons this could happen:
- The coupon code is expired.
- Another coupon code is in use that overrides your coupon code. This could happen if the other coupon code provides a better price for the student. For more information on this, please see the above question.
If a student has a checkout issue, what should I do?
Please tell the student to contact Udemy directly so that we can get the issue resolved as soon as possible!
