The new course experience
Udemy is rebuilding our core learning journey so you can achieve your skill goals as efficiently and effectively as possible. Some of the benefits of the new course experience include:
- A redesigned and enhanced interface as part of a targeted beta test.
- An AI-driven experience that is personalized for skill mastery.
- A focus on efficient, guided learning and clear progress.
Starting a course in the new experience
You still start your learning by clicking on the applicable course you wish to take in the My learning section of your account.
To access the Curriculum (sections and course content menu), click on the applicable icon at the top right of the course player. The Udemy AI Assistant, Notes feature, and the Q&A can also be accessed by clicking the applicable icon in this location.
What’s changed? Summary of key changes with the new course experience

- Reminder: the new course experience is an ongoing, pilot project, and additional changes could be made moving forward.
- All of the media player functions (i.e., sound, playback rates, video resolution, captions, etc.) are still located inside the course player.

The new course overview page
The new and improved course overview page allows you to access various features from the same page. The page can be accessed by clicking on the Curriculum icon (as shown above) and then View course overview at the bottom right of the course player.
The course curriculum, your course progress, and the Leave a rating option are also included on the course overview page.
Once you have completed your course, you can download your certificate by clicking Download certificate of completion under the course image.
By clicking on the ellipses beside Course details, you can access various other functions, some of which include:
- View full course details: the course landing page and the course description.
- Share: share the course URL by copying it, via email, or social media.
- Gift this course: the option to buy the course as a gift for someone else.
- Archive: move the course to the Archive section of your account.
- Edit your rating option: edit a rating you previously left for the course.
- Request a refund: submit a refund request for the course.
- New announcement emails: toggle on or off announcement emails for the course.
- Promotional emails: toggle on or off promotional emails from the instructor.
Accessing the Udemy AI Assistant and the Q&A
While viewing a lecture in the content player, you can ask the Udemy AI Assistant any questions you have about the course. As noted above, the Udemy AI Assistant can be accessed by clicking on the AI icon at the top right-hand side of the screen.
If you still need to ask the instructor a specific question, you can access the Q&A by clicking the applicable icon at the top-right of the course player.
How to access and download course resources
If a lecture includes resources, you’ll see a folder icon next to the applicable lecture item in the curriculum side panel. When you click on the folder, you’ll see a drop-down menu with all available resources for that lecture. To access or download the resource, click on the resource title.
Icons with an arrow that points up indicate that you will be directed to the resource on a browser page. Icons with an arrow pointing down indicate the resource will be downloaded to your device.
Accessing the Notes feature
The Notes feature can quickly be accessed by clicking the Notes icon at the top-right of the course player.
Accessing the Transcripts feature
The Transcripts feature can quickly be accessed by clicking the Notes icon at the top-right of the course player.

We invite you to share feedback regarding the new course experience! To do so, please follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the course overview page by following the instructions outlined above.
2. Click “Share feedback” at the bottom of the page and fill out the survey. The feedback will be sent to the applicable Udemy team for review and could help inform future improvements.
Frequently asked questions
Is the new course experience also available on the Udemy mobile app?
No. Currently, courses and learner accounts included in the pilot will have access to the new experience via web and mobile browsers. Our team plans to add the new course experience to the Udemy mobile app in the coming weeks.
Why can’t I see the new course experience on Udemy.com?
As noted above, the new course experience is an ongoing, pilot project and is not currently available in every course or all learner accounts. Our team plans to add the experience to all courses and learner accounts in the coming weeks.
Why do I see the new course experience in one course and not in another?
As noted, the new course experience is not currently available in every course. So, it’s possible to have the new experience in one course you’re taking and not another. Our team plans to add the experience to all courses in the coming weeks.
I can’t see the new experience in any of my courses; can I request to be added to it?
Not at this time. But, rest assured, our team is working to add the experience to all courses and learner accounts in the coming weeks.
Can I disable the new course experience in a course?
If you wish to revert back to the default course-taking experience, you can do so on the course overview page. Click on the ellipses beside Course Details to access the dropdown menu (instructions are outlined above), and then toggle the new experience off from the applicable option.
Can I switch the experience to light mode?
During the pilot project, some learner accounts do include an option to disable dark mode and switch to light mode.
To do so, click on the ellipses beside Course Details to access the dropdown menu (instructions are outlined above), and then toggle the dark mode option off.
