This article outlines how instructors can create and configure a graded lab, or a single-task, rubric-scored curriculum item, and what to expect once it's published.

- Instructors need to participate in Udemy’s GenAI Program in order to create graded labs in their courses.
What are graded labs?
Graded labs are a curriculum item where learners complete a single task and submit a screenshot as evidence of their work. Each submission is automatically scored against a 3-point rubric (Passed, Needs revision, Not attempted) along with AI-generated feedback.
Graded labs appear in the curriculum with a "Graded" tag, distinguishing them from ungraded Practice Labs.
How to access graded labs
1. Navigate to the Curriculum page of your course.
2. Within a section, click +Curriculum item and then select Graded lab.
How to create a graded lab
1. Begin planning your lab by selecting your lab workspace.

Please note:
- While Udemy workspaces are available for Personal Plan and Udemy Business Pro subscribers, other learners may need to use their own personal environments.
2. Fill out the required information for Select your Vertical and Workspace for the graded lab. You can upload your customized starter code or select Continue to tasks to skip this step.
3. Add tasks to break your lab into manageable steps. Add a task title and timestamp, or the exact second in your lab video when each task begins.
- You can also attach any task resources, including datasets, images, mockups, or configuration files.
Please note: Graded labs currently only support one task per lab; we hope to make multi-task editing available in the future.
4. Click on How graded labs are scored to view the rubric setting criteria for each of the scoring levels. (More information on graded labs scoring is also mentioned above.)
5. Click Publish.
Please note: You can't publish a graded lab until it has a task, vertical, and workspace selected.
6. Once published, the lab appears in your curriculum with a Graded tag, distinguishing it from Practice labs.
How to edit or delete a graded lab
To edit a graded lab, return to the Curriculum page and click on the lab title. Make any changes, then save or publish as needed.
To delete a graded lab, select the trash can icon next to the lab.
Please note: Deleted graded labs can't be restored.
