What is the Refer-a-Friend Program?

With Udemy’s Refer-a-Friend Program, you can invite friends to sign up for an annual Personal Plan subscription and enjoy savings together.

Personal Plan subscription allows learners to learn what they need, when they need it, by providing access to thousands of highly rated courses in hundreds of course topics. Course topics cover highly sought-after skills by employers, ranging from IT, web development, soft skills, business, marketing, and design. Learn more. 

When your friend purchases their first annual Udemy Personal Plan using your referral link, they’ll receive 20% off their first year. As a thank you, you’ll also get 20% off to purchase your annual Personal Plan subscription.

Please note: This promotion is currently only available to those who have not yet purchased an annual Personal Plan subscription. 

Can the referral be used for individual courses or a monthly Personal Plan subscription?

Currently, this program can only be applied to purchasing an annual Udemy Personal Plan subscription.

How do I refer a friend?

You can access your referral link by scrolling to your profile icon. Then, select Refer a friend.

Please note: To complete the referral, your friend must use your referral link when signing up and complete the purchase of the Annual Personal Plan.

How do I use a referral?

If you are purchasing an annual Personal Plan subscription using a friend’s referral, you must use the referral link sent to your email address at the time of purchase.

How do I receive my reward?

Once your referral is successful, you will receive a link to sign up for an annual Personal Plan subscription. You must use this link to receive your promotional reward.

A referral is considered successful when your friend signs up through your referral link and purchases an annual Personal Plan.

Please allow for up to 5 days after your friend’s purchase for an email confirming that your reward has been processed.

Who is eligible to participate?

Udemy learners who have not yet purchased an annual Personal Plan subscription are eligible to send their referral link to others. 

Friends must be new or existing Udemy learners who do not currently have an active annual Personal Plan subscription.

Are current annual Personal Plan subscribers eligible to participate?

Currently, existing annual Personal Plan subscribers are not eligible for this promotion.

Is the Refer-a-Friend Program available in all regions?

Currently, the Refer-a-Friend program is not available in all regions. If the promotion is available in your region, you will have the feature available on your Udemy account, as shown in the instructions above. 

Is there a limit to the number of friends I can refer?

While you can share your referral link with as many people as you like, you are only eligible to refer one friend. After your first successful referral, you cannot refer additional friends.

Can monthly Personal Plan subscribers participate in the program? 

No, current monthly Personal Plan subscribers are not eligible to participate in the referral program. However, friends who cancel their monthly subscription and sign up for an annual Personal Plan can use the referral coupon once their monthly subscription has expired.  

Can I combine this discount with other promotions or coupons?

No, referral discounts cannot be combined with other offers, promotions, or coupons.

Will I still be able to participate in a Personal Plan free trial promotion? 

If eligible, you can participate in a free trial promotion. The referral discount will be applied after your free trial ends.

Troubleshooting steps

I did not receive a referral link to sign up

If you're having trouble finding the email, please check your spam or promotions folder to see if the referral is there. If you're still experiencing issues, please reach out to the person who referred you and ask them to share the referral link directly.

I have not received my reward

Please allow up to 5 days after your friend has been charged to receive a confirmation email that the reward has been processed.

If you still don’t see your email, please contact Udemy Support for assistance.

I already signed up for Personal Plan, before receiving the reward

Currently, the reward is exclusively available to new subscribers who have not yet enrolled in the Personal Plan.

My friend did not get their discount.

In order for the referral to be successful, your friend must use the discount link sent through their email add their referral code at the time of purchase. They will not be able to use the promotion link once they have signed up for a subscription.
