What is passwordless email authentication?
Passwordless email authentication is a secure way to verify a user’s identity without using a password. With passwordless email authentication, a 6-digit code is sent to your email inbox when you’re signing up or logging in to Udemy.
Can I disable passwordless email authentication and log in with a password instead?
Passwordless email authentication enhances the security of your Udemy account and helps prevent unauthorized access. As a result, passwordless email authentication is the default method for logging in to Udemy and it’s not possible to disable it or to log in with a password instead.
- Note: Disabling multi-factor authentication (MFA) will not disable passwordless email authentication. Learn more about managing MFA for your account.
Depending on your location, you may also have the option of logging in using:
- Facebook, Google, or Apple.
- Your phone number.
Log in on the mobile app using your email
1. On the log in screen of the mobile app, enter your email address and tap Log in.
2. After you tap Log in, a 6-digit verification code will be sent to your email inbox.
- The code will expire after 15 minutes.
- If you don’t see the code in your email inbox, check your spam folder. If you didn’t receive the code, tap Resend code
3. Enter the 6-digit code and tap Log in to complete the sign up process.
Log in on the mobile app using Facebook, Google, or Apple
If you have previously signed up for Udemy using the Apple, Facebook or Google option, follow these instructions to log in using that account.
1. On the log in screen of the mobile app, tap the Facebook, Google, or Apple logo.
2. Follow the prompts on screen to log in to your account.
Log out of your account on the mobile app
- Tap Account at the bottom right.
- Tap Sign out.

3. After you click Continue, a 6-digit verification code will be sent to your email inbox.

- The code will expire after 15 minutes.
If you don’t see the code in your email inbox, check your spam folder. If you didn’t receive the code, click Resend code.
4. Enter the 6-digit code and click Log in to log into your account.
Log in on a browser using Google, Facebook, or Apple
If you have previously signed up for Udemy using the Google, Facebook, or Apple option, follow these instructions to log in on your browser using that account.
1. Navigate to Udemy.com, and click Log In in the top right of your browser.
2. On the log in screen, click the Google, Facebook, or Apple icon.

1. Move your cursor to your initials or profile image at the top right of the page.
2. Click Log out in the dropdown menu.

What is passwordless email authentication?
Passwordless email authentication is a secure way to verify a user’s identity without using a password. With passwordless email authentication, a 6-digit code is sent to your email inbox when you’re signing up or logging in to Udemy.
Can I sign up by creating a password instead?
Passwordless email authentication enhances the security of your Udemy account and helps prevent unauthorized access. As a result, passwordless email authentication is the default method for signing up to Udemy and it’s not possible to create an account using a password.
Depending on your location, you may also have the option of signing up using:
- Facebook, Google, or Apple
- Your phone number
Sign up on a browser using your email address
1. Navigate to Udemy.com.
2. In the top right of your browser, click Sign up.
3. On the sign up screen:
- Enter your Full name and Email.
- If you want to receive promotional emails, select the check box.
Note: Depending on your location, you may also have the option to add your phone number for easier login and added security. Follow the instructions on screen to add a phone number to your account.
4. After you click Continue, a 6-digit verification code will be sent to your email inbox.
- The code will expire after 15 minutes.
- If you don’t see the code in your email inbox, check your spam folder. If you didn’t receive the code, click Resend code.
5. Enter the 6-digit code and click Log in to complete the sign up process.
Sign up using Facebook, Google, or Apple
You can also sign up to Udemy using your Facebook, Google, or Apple account.
1. Navigate to Udemy.com.
2. In the top right of your browser, click Sign up.
3. On the sign up screen, click the Google, Facebook, or Apple logo.
Note: The Google log in option won’t work if third-party cookies are disabled on your browser or if you opt-out of third-party cookies through the cookie preference settings on Udemy. If you’re encountering issues with the Google option, please ensure third-party cookies are enabled. If you don’t want to enable third-party cookies, please select a different sign up method.
4. If you selected Google or Facebook, follow the prompts on screen to complete the sign up process.
5. If you selected Apple, follow the prompts to complete the sign up process. You’ll be asked if you wish to share the email address that’s registered to your Apple ID with Udemy.
- If you wish to hide that email address, however, you can choose to have Apple generate a unique, private email address.
- Messages sent to this address will be forwarded to your personal email address by a private email service. You can read or respond to these emails moving forward and still keep your personal address private.
