• Creating and Editing Your Profile

    Every Udemy account includes a profile page, where you can share information about yourself, and add links to your personal website or social media profiles.

    For Udemy instructors, your profile is also your Instructor biography, and is your dedicated space to present your expertise, your experience and your personality. For tips on how to create a compelling and engaging Instructor bio please click here.

    How to Edit Your Profile

    To edit your profile, including adding your profile's image, click the drop down menu in the upper right corner of your account and click on your name. You can also head to your profile page by clicking here.

    To edit your profile bio, simply type in your first and last name, your headline, and what you want your biography to say. Next, click Save at the bottom of the page.

    How to Upload Your Profile Picture

    To upload (or edit) your profile picture, click Photo on the left hand side of your Profile page. Then choose an image from your computer to upload. Once it’s uploaded, you can crop it, if necessary, and then click Save.

    How to Add External Links to Your Profile

    In your profile you can add links to your personal website, YouTube channel, and social media profiles​ like Google+, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn. These links can provide more information about your experience and credentials, and are a great way for instructors to tell students more about them and increase their audience.

    To add external links to your profile, scroll to the bottom of your Profile page and enter your information. After you’ve entered the external links, click Save.

    How  to View Your Profile

    If you wish to see how your profile will appear to other students and instructors, simply click View Public Profile on the left hand side of your Profile page.

    Editing Your Privacy Settings

    You can access your privacy settings, and set whether you wish to have your profile publicly visible on the Privacy page. In addition, you can also set whether you wish to share what courses you’re enrolled in, on this page. By default, account profile’s are publicly visible, unless the settings are changed.

    Your privacy settings can be accessed by clicking on Privacy on the left hand side of your Profile page. To make your profile or enrolled courses private, simply click on the check mark beside each option and click Save.

  • Merging Accounts

    If you've accidentally created two Udemy accounts, we can merge them together for you. In the process, your course progress and purchase history will be transferred. Please note, however, that private messages and bookmarks will not be transferred. Be sure to save any important information you wish to keep before proceeding with the process.

    In order to merge your accounts, we will need to verify that you are the account holder of both accounts. Please initiate the merge account process by submitting a support ticket here.

    Unfortunately, we are unable to merge Udemy for Business accounts. If you are an instructor, and wish to merge accounts, please contact our support team.

  • Organize Your Udemy Courses With Collections

    As you enroll in more-and-more Udemy courses, you may find that you want to organize the courses in your My Courses section. By utilizing our Collections and Archive features, you can easily organize your Udemy courses in a variety of ways and plan your learning accordingly. 

    Collections

    By using the Collections feature, you’ll be able to organize courses into collections based on category, projects or learning goals that you create. In addition, the collections feature will help you plan your learning by organizing which courses you might wish to take together.

    For example, if you’re enrolled in several courses related to web development, you could create a collection named "Web Development", and assign related courses to it. Or, if you’re taking several courses to help you build your first business, you could create a collection named “My Business”. 

    How to Create a Collection

    You can create a new Collection, and assign courses to it, by following these steps:

    1. After logging into Udemy, Click on My Courses at the top right of the page
    2. Click on the vertical ellipses at the top right of the course card
    3. Move your cursor to Create New Collection and click on it
    4. Name the Collection and add a Description (ie: 'Designing my First Website')
    5. Click Create
    6. The course will be assigned to that collection

    Adding Courses to Existing Collections

    You can add courses to collections you've already created by following these steps:

    1. After logging into Udemy, click on My Courses at the top right of the page
    2. Click on the vertical ellipses at the top right of the course card
    3. Collections you have created will appear
    4. Click on the collection name you would like the course added to. 

    You can also add a course to multiple collections if you wish, by selecting additional collection names, when you click on the course card's vertical ellipses. If a course has been added to a collection, a green checkmark will appear by the collection name. 

    Please note: archived courses cannot be added to existing collections. If you would like to add an archived course to a collection, please unarchive the course first. For steps on how to do this, please click here.

    When you hover your cursor above a course on your My Courses page, it will show how many collections the course has been added to.

    Removing a Course From a Collection

    If you wish to remove a course from a collection, then please follow these steps:

    1. Select My Courses at the top right of the page
    2. Click on the vertical ellipses at the top right of the course card
    3. Click on the collection name where the green checkmark appears
    4. The course will be removed from that collection

    Accessing Collections

    You can access your collections, and any courses you’ve assigned to them, by following these steps:

    1. After logging into Udemy, Click on My Courses at the top right of the page
    2. Click on Collections which appears to the right of All Courses, on the My Courses page
    3. Click on the collection you would like to access, and any courses you've assigned to it will appear

    Editing or Deleting a Collection

    You can quickly edit a collection name and description, or delete it altogether, from the Collections page. 

    To edit a collection name, simply click on the edit pencil icon, which appears beside the collection title. The option to edit the name or description will appear.

    To delete the collection, click on the garbage can icon that appears beside the edit pencil icon. 

    Please note: deleting a collection cannot be undone. The courses that were included in the collection, however, will remain active in your account.

    Archiving Courses

    You can also use the archiving feature as a way to remove courses from your My Courses page. For more information on how to archive or unarchive a course, please refer to this support article.

  • Has my Account Been Compromised?

    We know how upsetting it can be if you think your account may have been accessed without your authorization. But, before you panic and conclude your account has been compromised, consider whether there may be a reasonable explanation for the activity you’ve encountered. Here are some common explanations for activity that can be mistaken for a security breach. 

    I can't login:

    Is it possible you’ve forgotten your password? Or if you’ve recently created an account, could the password that was entered be different than you recall? If so, you can request a password reset email by following these steps.


    I can’t find the courses I enrolled in:

    Could the course have been archived by accident? If so, you can follow these steps to locate the course and return it to your My Courses

    Could you have used a different email address to create the account? Or misspelled your email address by accident when you created it? Could you have more than one account as a result? This article has more troubleshooting tips if you’re unable to find your course.


    It looks like someone was watching my courses:

    Has someone you know used your computer or mobile device recently? Is it possible they watched one of your Udemy courses? Or, could you have left a lecture playing by accident? Do you have the autoplay feature enabled in the lecture player? If so, this could explain why your course progress is presented differently than what you recall. 
     

    What to do if you Believe Your Account was Compromised

    If you’ve noticed suspicious activity in your account, which cannot be explained by the reasons above, then immediately request a password reset email by following these steps. Accounts can become compromised if an individual gained access to your login credentials through fraudulent activities, like for example, a phishing scam.

    Please note: your password will automatically be reset after you initiate the password reset process.

    If you do not receive the password reset message within an hour, please check your spam folder. Also, please be sure the no-reply@e.udemymail.com email is added to your safe sender list. For information on how to add the Udemy address as a safe sender, please refer to this article

    If you do not receive a password reset email, and are unable to set a new password, then please contact Udemy Support.

  • Keeping Your Account Secure

    Udemy has security protocols in place to help keep your account secure, but there are several things you can also do to protect your account, and dramatically reduce the likelihood of it being compromised.

    Choose a Strong Password

    Choosing a strong and unique password is an extremely effective way to protect your account and prevent unauthorized access. While selecting a password for your account, we strongly recommend you consider the following:

    • Select a password that is easy for you to remember, but that does not include words that a stranger might guess. So, we advise not to use words you may utilize in your social media accounts, like your name, location, favorite team etc. 
    • Don’t use obvious numbers (for example, don’t use numbers that are in your birthday or phone number). Use uppercase letters or additional characters (!, #, & etc) in your password, as this makes guessing a password much more difficult.
    • Create a unique password for each account and service you have, rather than using the same password for each site. This way if one of your accounts is compromised, then that password cannot be used to gain access into other accounts you have.

    Change Your Password Periodically

    We also recommend changing your password periodically, as this is another great way to keep your account secure. When you do change your password, we recommend creating a new one, rather than using a password you’ve already used.

    More Tips to Protect Your Account

    In addition to selecting a strong and unique password, there are several other simple ways you can protect your account, and greatly reduce the likelihood of it being compromised.

    • If you’re accessing your Udemy account from a public or shared device, be sure to log out of your account when you’re finished studying.
    • Always log in at https://www.udemy.com/. Check the URL of the page before you enter your login info if you're unsure. In addition, you can also type https://www.udemy.com/ directly into your browser.
    • Do not write down or store your password in your files or online accounts.
    • Do not share your Udemy account or account credentials with others.
    • We advise against using the same password for each site. But, if you did use the same credentials on another site or service that’s had a security breach, be sure to change the password for your Udemy account.
    • If a computer or mobile device you used to access your Udemy account is lost or stolen, use another device to initiate a password reset email. For steps on how to do this, please click here.

  • Adding and Deleting Cards in Your Account

    If you want to make purchasing courses faster and easier, you can securely save your credit or debit card information in your Udemy account. This way you will not need to re-enter the card information each time you purchase a course.

    Credit Card Security

    Udemy never stores your full credit or debit card information on our systems. Instead, we work with credit card payment processors who are certified under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

    When you enter your credit or debit card details on Udemy, that information is sent directly to secure databases maintained by these payment processors, who then complete the transaction. That partner will then provide us with a portion of the stored information (such as the last four digits of your card number) to help do things like document your purchases and label your saved cards.

    During this process, our partner will also provide us with a randomly generated alphanumeric ID called a "token". This token allows us to reference a saved card during future transactions, even though we don’t have the full card number on file ourselves. Because we store a token instead of the full credit card number you originally provided, there is no way for anyone who is logged in to your Udemy account to obtain your full credit card information from within your account. In addition, there is no way for a third party to reverse-engineer a token ID to obtain the credit card information.

    Adjusting Your Transaction Information Settings

    You can have the system automatically select your saved card for a purchase, by turning on the Use my transaction information for further purchases option. If this option is turned off, however, then no card’s information will be entered, and the payment page will not select the Remember this card box.

    To either activate or disable this option, please follow the steps below:

    1. Move the cursor to your profile picture at the top right of the page
    2. Click on your name
    3. Next, click on Credit Cards on the left hand side
    4. Toggle on or off the Use my transaction information option

    How to Save Your Credit Card Information

    If you wish to save your credit card information, so that you don’t need to re-enter it next time you purchase a course, please follow these steps:

    1. Click Take This Course
    2. Enter the credit card information (under Add new card)
    3. Make sure the Remember this card box is selected
    4. Hit Pay and the card’s information will be saved in your account

    Purchasing a Course With a Saved Card 

    If you saved your card information during a previous purchase, you can quickly use that card again to purchase another course without re-entering it.  

    If the Use my transaction information for further purchases option is turned on in your account, then the card’s information will automatically appear. If you have more than one credit card saved, however, then you can select which one you would like to use for the purchase.

    Editing and Deleting Cards in Your Account

    If you’ve saved your cards and would like to edit or delete the information in your account, please follow these steps:

    1. Move the cursor to your profile picture at the top right of the page
    2. Click on your name
    3. Next, click on Credit Cards on the left hand side 
    4. You can edit the credit card information by clicking on Update (once you've finished click Update again), or remove it from your account by clicking Delete

  • Change Your Email Login

    Your login credentials can be changed at any time. You can change the email address associated with your Udemy account from your account settings.

    1. Move your cursor to your profile picture in the top right corner of the page
    2. Click on your name and then Account on the left hand side
    3. Click the pencil icon beside the email box
    4. Enter the new email and your old password
    5. Click Save

    Please note: if you close an account, you will have to wait 90 days to use the same email address for a new or existing account.

    I Can't Change my E-mail Because the Pencil Icon is Missing
    If you signed up with a Facebook or Google Account, you will need to set a password for your account before changing your e-mail address. Setting a new password will not unlink your Facebook or Google Account from Udemy.

  • Unsubscribe From Udemy Notifications

    If you no longer wish to receive certain notifications from Udemy and instructors, you can unsubscribe from them by changing your notification settings.

    You can edit your notification settings by following the steps below:

    1. Move your cursor to the the top right-hand corner of the page
    2. Click on My Profile and then Notifications on the left hand side
    3. Select the notifications you wish to receive. If you don't wish to receive any promotional emails, however, then click on the box beside Don't send me any promotional emails
    4. Click Save

  • How to Sign up to Udemy And Log Into Your Account

    This article outlines how you can sign up to Udemy to begin your learning experience, and log into your account to access your courses moving forward.

    Skip ahead to section:

    Sign up with an email and password

    Signing up to Udemy with an email and password is quick-and-easy. To create your Udemy account please follow the steps below:

    1. On the Udemy.com homepage, click Sign Up at the top right. If you’re using the Udemy mobile app, click Create an Account at the bottom of the screen and then Sign up with email.
    2. Enter your name, the email address you would like registered for your account, and a unique password you will use.
    3. Select whether you wish to receive promotional emails and recommendations from Udemy.
    4. Click Sign Up to create your account.

    Sign up with Facebook or Google

    You can also sign up to Udemy using your Google or Facebook account by following these steps.

    1. On the Udemy homepage click Sign Up at the top right. If you’re using the Udemy mobile app, click Create an Account at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Next, click either the Google or Facebook sign up icon.
    3. Follow the prompts to complete the sign up process.

    Login with your email and password

    If you used an email address and password to create your Udemy account, follow the steps below to login:

    1. Move your cursor to the top right of Udemy's homepage and click Login.
    2. Enter your email and password.
    3. Click Login again.

    If you used Facebook or Google to create your Udemy account previously, you can follow these steps to login:

    1. Move your cursor to the top right of Udemy's homepage and click Login.
    2. Click Continue with Facebook or Continue with Google.

    You can also continue to login on the mobile app via the Google or Facebook sign in options.

    Set a password for an account created through Google or Facebook

    Please note that when you sign up using the Google or Facebook option, no password is created for your Udemy account. If you wish to create a password for your Udemy account, and login with the same email address that’s registered to your Google or Facebook account moving forward, follow the steps below.

    1. Log into your account at Udemy.com using either the Facebook or Google sign in option.
    2. Move your cursor to your profile avatar at the top right, and click on your name.
    3. Select Account on the left-hand side.
    4. Enter a new password for your password, re-type the new password, and click Change Password. Please note that your Udemy account password can differ from the password registered to your Facebook or Google account.

    You can also set a password for your account by clicking on Forgot Password at Udemy.com, and following the steps outlined in this article.  To do this on the mobile app, tap Sign in with email, enter your account’s email address and then tap Forgot Password.

    How to log out of your Udemy account

    If you’re accessing your Udemy account from a public or shared device, be sure to log out of your account when you’re finished studying. To log out of your Udemy account simply do the following:

    1. Move your cursor to your profile avatar at the top right
    2. Click Log out in the dropdown menu that appears

    Since Udemy’s mission is to improve lives through learning around the globe, the Udemy site, mobile app and Help Center are localized in many different languages. This article outlines how you can change the language settings for your account, or if required, when reading articles in our Help Center.

    Please note: changing your language settings will not change your account’s country or currency settings. Please click here for more information on our supported currencies.

    Change Your Account Language

    The Udemy site (udemy.com) and mobile app are localized in Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Thai, and Turkish.  

    To change your account language please follow the steps below:

    1. Move your cursor to your profile image at the top right-hand corner of the page.
    2. Click on your name.
    3. On the Profile page, select your preferred language from the drop-down options.
    4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save. The Udemy site and our mobile app will appear in the language you have selected. Please note that courses, however, can only be viewed in the language that they are created.

    You can also change your account's language by using the language dropdown menu, which is located at the bottom right of each page of the site (please see below for information on our Help Center language options). Just click on the dropdown menu and select the language you wish to change your account to.

    Change The Help Center Language Setting

    The Udemy Help Center (support.udemy.com) can be viewed in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish and Turkish. If your account language is set to one of our other language options for Udemy.com, then the Help Center will appear in English when you navigate to it.

    If you wish to select a different language for the Help Center, however, click on the dropdown menu at the bottom right and make your selection.

  • Closing Your Account

    Closing your Udemy account will permanently remove you from your enrolled courses, and access to your account and purchased courses cannot be restored. If a course was purchased within the past 30 days, you can request a refund before closing your account. 

    Warning: you will need to wait 90 days before you can use the same email address for a new or existing Udemy account after you close your account. If you need to change your email address for an existing account, please click here to learn how.
