How to start a course lecture on the mobile app
1. After signing into the Udemy mobile app, tap My learning.
2. Tap on the course you wish to take.
3. Tap on Get Started to begin your learning experience.
How to navigate through the course curriculum on the mobile app
All of the published lectures and curriculum items of the course are visible below the video screen. You can scroll and tap to begin a lecture or course item (quiz, practice test, etc.).
Once the video has begun playing, tap on the video screen to access the play and pause icons. You can also click on the left and right icons or drag the icon on the progress bar below to adjust the video time.
How to access course resources on the mobile app
1. Once you have accessed the mobile course player, tap More.
2. Tap Resources.
3. Tap on any lecture number to view relevant resources. Then, tap Open to download the resources onto your mobile device.

Changing the Video Speed on the iOS App
If you're watching a course on the iOS app, and wish to change the video lecture speed, you can do so by following these steps:
1. Tap on the Settings icon at the top right hand of the screen to access the Lecture Options
2. Next, tap on Playback Speed to see the various speeds that are available
3. Select the video speed you would like to use
Changing the Video Speed on the Android App
If you're watching a course on the Android app, and wish to change the video lecture speed, you can do so by following these steps:
1. The video speed option is located at the top right of the lecture screen and is set in the default speed of 1.0x
2. Tap on it to select the video playback speed you want
Please note that the playback speed will be saved, and you will not have to change the settings in the proceeding, video lectures.

Read articleIf you’re watching your Udemy courses on either the iOS or Android app, you can quickly adjust the video quality of the lecture to a higher or lower resolution, depending on your needs. In addition, you can also adjust the quality of the videos that you wish to download for offline viewing.

How to Adjust the Video Quality for Lectures on the iOS App
If you’re watching your Udemy courses on the iOS mobile app and wish to change the video quality of the lecture, you can quickly do so by following these steps:
- Tap on the lecture options icon at the top right hand of the screen
- Tap on Video Quality
- Select either 360p, 480p, 720p, 1080p or Auto for the video resolution
Please note: if you want to watch the video in the best resolution possible, select 1080p. If you’re in an area with a weak Wifi connection or cellular signal, however, you may want to choose a lower resolution. If you select “auto”, then the app will automatically select the resolution based on the internet bandwidth that’s available.
Adjusting the Video Download Quality on the iOS App
To set the video quality of lectures you want to download for offline viewing on the iOS app, please follow these steps:
- Tap on the Account icon at the bottom right hand of your My Courses screen
- Next, tap on Download options, and then Video download quality
- Set the resolution you wish to watch on downloaded lectures
How to Adjust the Video Quality for Lectures on the Android App
If you’re watching your Udemy courses on the Android mobile app and wish to change the video quality of the lecture, you can quickly do so by following these steps:
- At the top of the screen the video quality is posted to the left of CC
- Tap on that number and you will be able to select 720p, 360p or “Auto” for the video resolution.
If you wish to watch the lecture in HD resolution then select 720p. If you’re in an area with a slow Wifi or cellular connection, however, then you may wish to select 360p to avoid buffering. If you select “auto”, then the app will automatically select the resolution based on the internet bandwidth that’s available.
Adjusting the Video Download Quality on the Android App
To set the video quality of lectures you want to download for offline viewing on the Android app, please follow these steps:
- Tap on Account at the bottom right of the screen
- Next, tap on Download options and then Video download quality

How to Cast Udemy Courses Via Your Mobile Device

How to Cast Videos With an iOS Mobile Device
Casting with AirPlay: you can cast your course videos to a monitor or television, via your iOS and AirPlay devices by following these steps:
1. Make sure the mobile device you're using is on the same Wi-Fi network as your AirPlay device.
2. Open the iOS Udemy app. From the My Courses page, open the course video that you want to cast.
3. Tap the casting icon at the top-right and then select the device you wish to cast to.
4. Once you're connected a casting notification will appear on your device.
5. To stop casting, tap the screen and then the casting icon.
If you have an Apple TV device you can also screen mirror your Udemy courses by using the AirPlay feature on your iOS device. To learn more click here.
Casting with Chromecast on iOS: to cast videos from your iOS mobile device to a Chromecast-enabled screen please follow the steps below.
1. Make sure the mobile device you are using is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast or TV with built-in Chromecast.
2. Open the Udemy app and from the My Courses screen, open the course video that you want to cast.
3. Tap the casting icon as shown below.
4. Choose the name of the device you'd like to cast to.
5. Once you're connected a casting notification will appear on your device.
6. To stop casting, tap the casting icon again and choose Stop casting.
How to Cast Courses With an Android Mobile Device
Casting with Chromecast on Android: please follow these steps to cast videos from your Android mobile device to a Chromecast-compatible screen:
1. Make sure the mobile device you're using to cast is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device, or Smart-TV with Chromecast.
2. Open the Udemy app, and from the My Courses page, open the course video that you want to cast.
3. Tap the casting icon as shown below.
4. Choose the name of the device you'd like to cast to.
5. Once you're connected a casting notification will appear on your device.
6. To stop casting, tap the casting icon again and choose Stop casting.

Who can see notes
Although you can see at what junctures of a course other learners have created notes, only you can view the text for the notes you created. Instructors and other learners in the course cannot see who created notes or what the notes include.
How to access and create notes on the mobile app
To access the notes feature in the Udemy mobile app, tap More (as seen below) within the course taking experience and then Notes. Here you can access all existing notes and create new notes.
All the notes that you create in a course will be added across all your devices, desktop, mobile, and tablet.
To create a new note while taking your course on the iOS app, tap Create new on the right-hand side of the Notes screen.
If you’re using the Android mobile app, you can create a new note by tapping the + icon.
How to edit and delete notes on the mobile app
If you wish to edit or delete a note you’ve made, tap on the ellipses that appears to the right of the note. The edit and delete option will appear.

1. Tap the CC at the top right hand corner of the screen to access the Subtitle Languages options
2. Select English or any other available language for the subtitles
Turning subtitles off on the Android app
You can turn the subtitles off at any time by following the steps outlined above, and then selecting OFF.
